Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month May 2022

29th April 2022

RVN-with-catIn May 2005 the first ever Veterinary Nurse Awareness event was launched. Its aim was simple: to raise awareness of the work veterinary nurses do.

Seventeen years later and the veterinary nursing profession continues this yearly celebration in recognition of the skills and value registered veterinary nurses bring to animal health and welfare. During May, Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month (VNAM) provides a focussed opportunity to reflect on how veterinary nurses shape the high levels of clinical care practices provide and the many different roles and responsibilities they have.

Registered Veterinary Nurses and the wider nursing team of Patient Care Assistants are a fundamental part of the clinical team, taking a leading role in preventative health care, care of hospitalised patients and running of diagnostic tests. Depending on the procedure, registered veterinary nurses also support with or undertake surgical procedures and provide care during anaesthesia and in the recovery period too.

Join Stow Vets on a Blue Cross Fundraising Walk in June

28th April 2022

Ruby-NewsBlue Cross is a national charity that helps sick, injured and homeless pets and this year is their 125th anniversary.

Stow Vets are Blue Cross Burford’s official vets and to help mark the occasion we are organising a dog walk to help raise funds for this amazing organisation.

By kind permission of Harry Acland, the 5k walk will take place at the privately owned Notgrove Estate on Sunday 26th June.  The walk will start at 11am but people are welcome to arrive from 10am to register.  Coffees, teas & baguettes will be available to purchase or people are welcome to bring their own picnics.

Tickets will cost £10 per person (under 16’s go free) and all proceeds will go to the Blue Cross.

The walk is easy/moderately difficult and will take about 2 hours to complete.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite.  Just click on the link below:

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet people, socialise dogs and enjoy the beautiful countryside not usually accessible to members of the public whilst raising money for a great cause.  We look forward to seeing you in June.
